We were approached by Thomas Miller and the UK P&I Club with a unique challenge; to help build awareness amongst young seamen of potential health & safety problems at sea.
The UK P&I Club, under the management of Thomas Miller, provide naval insurance to members in more than 100 countries. An essential part of the work that they do is around loss prevention. They put a great deal of effort into educating seafarers of the potentially catastrophic problems that can occur at sea. The UK P&I Club wanted to find a way to raise awareness of health and safety concerns amongst a younger demographic; those who — ironically — often find the topic rather dry.

We introduced the concept of gamification to risk management and loss prevention. We designed and built Risk Ahoy!; a light-hearted approach to health and safety at sea. Risk Ahoy! is a mobile game available for both iPhone and Android devices. It takes the form of a number of frenetic mini-games, each designed to highlight a potential risk at sea in a fun and engaging way.
